Top 10 Things to Bring to a Tailgate

This list may seem like a no brainer, but I bet there is one item listed that slipped your mind! We are just here to help make you have the best day you can!

1. Cooler & Ice
Make sure your cooler is large enough to store all the beverages and food you are bringing. Keep in mind ice takes up space! Multiple coolers may be a good idea. I tend to dedicate one to drinks and one to food. If its a hot day you are going to want to stop for ice closer to the venue.

2. Drinks
Beer is the most popular drink you'll find tailgaters enjoying. I'd say go with cans they are a safer bet. But if bottles are your choice, don't forget your bottle opener! Also, make sure you check that alcoholic beverages are allowed in the area you are tailgating. Most areas require you to transfer your beverages into cups (so add red solo cups to your grocery list!)

3. Food
There is some preference here, but one thing everyone has in common is making sure there is enough. Bring a main course (burgers, hot dogs, chicken, kebobs, cold cuts), some sides that go great alongside (salad, potato salad, pasta salad), and some snacks (chips & dip, veggies, fruit). Oh and desserts are not frowned upon!

4. Grill
If you're bringing raw meat, you're going to need a portable grill. Make sure you bring the proper fuel, whether it be propane or charcoal, and a lighter.

5. Condiments
Who wants a plain burger? No-one. Do not forget the add ons. You'll need the basics: ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, and barbecue sauce. But to really make your guests happy bring lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and banana peppers.

6. Utensils
You are going to need utensils for eating and for grilling. Plastic is your best friend at tailgates. Bring plastic forks, spoons, knives, plates, and cups. I also recommend stopping by the dollar store and picking up some tongs, a spatula, and serving utensils, so you can just dispose of them when you are finished.

7. Games
Many yard games are great for tailgating. If you are able to bring along your Kan Jam, corn hole, or ladder ball I recommend it. And don't forget your football, you've got to toss it around a bit before the game.

8. Chairs
Most like tailgating for hours. While you might be up and about socializing and playing games, taking a seat to eat or just simply take a break off your feet is a good idea.

9. Trash bags
You'll be surprised at how much trash you generate. Most tailgating facilities will have barrels spread throughout but those fill up fast. It is more convenient to bring your own bags, tie it up to a chair, and keep your spot clean.

10. First Aid Kit
You just never know what can happen!

Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat.
